Success sounds glamorous until you’re living the slow part: the false starts, the awkward first attempts, the moments where you swear you’re “close” and the results say otherwise. I share why I ultimately chose the name Journey To Success, even after experimenting with titles like “The Fabio Podcast” and “From Failure To Success” and realizing how the word failure can land heavier than we intend. The bigger point is the one most people miss: missteps are not the opposite of progress, they’re often the price of getting honest feedback.

We dig into the mindset traps that quietly destroy momentum, especially ego and impatience. Ego wants fast money and fast wins to impress someone, prove something, or escape a job overnight. But when speed becomes the goal, shortcuts take over, focus disappears, and burnout shows up right on schedule. We talk about why patience isn’t just a nice trait, it’s a core success skill that keeps you building when the early results are small and the work feels repetitive.

I also share a real example from Substack and audience building: running ads, losing subscribers, and realizing I was rushing instead of serving the right community. From there we get practical about the fundamentals that actually move the needle in personal growth and productivity: humility, learning from others, studying what’s already been documented, and using trial and error to create your own “instructions” for success. We close with the power of focus like a sniper, how to expand to new platforms without drifting from your core goal, and a question for you about what your journey looks like.

Subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, share this with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review. What challenge has shaped your path the most?

Why The Show Is Named

SPEAKER_00

What is the journey to success? When I originally came up with the idea of opening a podcast, I considered different names, such as the Fabio Podcast. The Fabio Podcast. My surname is Posca. So I really like the connection with my surname Posca. So, and I at the time, five years ago, I opened this podcast, so the Fabio Podcast. So I initially went with that. I later switched to different names actually, different headlines, different titles. The one I remember most is from failure to success. But I realized the word failure might carry a negative connotation, which wasn't my intention. So for me, failure, or better yet, missteps are, you know, crucial steps on the path to success. But I remember the time I received some uh feedback, you know, about how much negative was the title, and of course wasn't my my intention at all. Anyway, over the years I've been instorved many names, and in the end, I decided on uh journey to success. While for my community on Supstack, where listeners and readers can connect directly with me, I created the Journey to Success Club. So, what is the journey to success? Why does this phrase carry such significance and uh what does it contain? We don't know that yet, but that's what we are going to talk about today. Hi guys, my name is Fabio from Journey to Success and welcome. Today I would like to chat with you about this journey that the ups, downs, doubts, you know, missteps. And I'm sure you will find something useful in this episode. But before we go forward, as always, please subscribe so I know this is the right direction to lead you guys, to drive you and to guide you towards your journey to success. And let's

My First Podcast Was A Mess

get started. Alright, as always. So, my journey, my journey began more than a decade ago, actually. But the idea of starting a podcast originated around five years ago, maybe even longer now. I attempted to create my first podcast, but it was terrible. Of course, it was terrible, you know. It was just a few minutes of a motivational speech with loud music, it was a disaster. My initial idea was to deliver daily motivational shots in the beginning. And then I decided to take a break from that old podcast because I was not that convinced. And when I returned to let's say a year later, I realized I'd actually gained some listeners. But for me, you know, it was too much slow. So I closed it and tried something else. A year or maybe two years later, maybe actually eight years and maybe an half, now that remember, I reopened the podcast. So I opened a new one actually, and it had shaped into what you know as journey to success, which started in March 2023.

The Wall Most Dreamers Hit

SPEAKER_00

This brings me to a key point, alright. Many people trying to achieve their dreams and find success. So many people who I'm gonna reframe the phrase, many people who want to achieve their dreams and find success often hit a wall. Okay, and this happened for several reasons, of course. One of the reasons is because they try too many things. They try too many things, that was my mistake as well, and they lack focus on uh one specific goal, and uh also because they, you, uh, we are not that patient. Okay, we may think that other methods, tools, social media work better than others, leading to a desire for quick results to fulfill our ego, to fulfill your ego. Okay, I know it's a little bit harsh, but that's the truth. So let's start by addressing these two points first

Ego, Speed, And Burnout

SPEAKER_00

ego and patience. In my opinion, these two elements work together. When we talk about ego, we often want to achieve our dreams quickly. Fast money, you know, fast accomplishments, and this desire arises from a personal need, whether it's to impress someone, impress an old friend, you know, who has judged us maybe in the past, an ex, a family member, or simply to prove something to ourselves, something that we are capable, that we are we are more than enough, you know, in this world. The problem arises when we try to rush this process, okay, leading to burnout. Deep down, we know we are not pursuing our goals for the sake of building a beautiful beautiful community, for the sake of building the right audience or merely for enjoyment. Instead, we are guided by a purpose in our mind, reasonable or not. But this purpose is not really connected with what we want to achieve, okay? Uh example, most of the time we want to reach our goals as quickly as possible because we want to stop working for someone else, because we want to have more time for ourselves, or maybe because we want to give our family a better life, you know? Or banally, we just want to make more money. There is nothing wrong. We wanted this, of course. Nothing. Of course, there is nothing wrong, wrong, but these are motivational triggers. So with motivational triggers, you can move your dream machine faster, okay? But you still need to build this machine, and uh the issue arises when uh people take a selfish, arrogant approach, believing they can achieve anything in a short period and dismissing the challenges of life. Okay, we try short shortcuts. I tried shortcuts, so I talk by experience, you know, but it doesn't work like that, guys. It doesn't work like that. Okay, again, I know this may sound harsh, but I speak from the same bot you you are as well, you know. We are in this bot all together, and I I assure you that if you unlock this true, right, it will be easier for you to reach your dream. The reality is that you are unlikely to reach your goals through this mindset, if you have this kind of mindset, all right. So to truly succeed, patience is essential. Patience

A Hard Lesson From Substack

SPEAKER_00

is one of the first keys to achieve success. This brings us to the to the next important point patience. People often talk about resilience, persistence and discipline, you know. But these these are yeah, of course, these are certainly important keys to achieve success, all right? And 100%, okay. So we agree about that. But let's be honest, there are other essential elements to consider, like patience. You need to be patient. Okay. Let me share an example with you, an example that highlights both the funny and sad sides of this. In recent months, I focused on Substack to connect with people interested in personal growth, but I also was also looking uh to grow their audience. Alright, so I was looking on uh on a target who was interested to grow their audience. I even run ads, advertisements about how to build an audience because I know how to do it. However, I thought I was you know close to unlocking the last piece of the puzzle. When in reality, I was far from it. I was losing subscribers on SoupStacks, and my ads weren't generating any conversions, not even free subscribers. And then I understood the reason behind this. My audience consists of people who love to learn about personal growth, mindset, and productivity. While there is always someone interested in buying a product from me, of course, I kept making the same mistake. I focused on on myself, on uh let's say rushing the process, all right, rather than uh focusing on the right audience. So again, I wasn't being patient again, you know. So be patient, guys, stay humble and uh avoid arrogance, okay? Because we have a lot to learn, and it's okay, it's okay to be patient in a way to learn more, in a way to be more humble. And here we go to the next step, actually. Be amble and less arrogant. When you are humble, you realize that you can learn from others. Books, people, you know, the people around you and your experiences that can give valuable lessons. And the more you learn, the more you become aware of the knowledge you lack in order to reach your goals. And this awareness helps you become less arrogant. So when we start any project in life, of course we do with the right intention, right? We follow a recipe to make dinner, instruction to repair our cars, you know, or to build a closet from IKEA, from IKEA instructions. Or guidelines, anyway, any kind of guideline to achieve a specific goal, okay? Life teaches us that there is usually some form of guidance to help us reach a desired outcome. However, pursue

Humility Builds Better Instructions

SPEAKER_00

your dream is a different story. Okay, you might think you have the right recipe for success. You know, you want to become a podcaster, so you open a podcast and talk to the people, you know, and uh probably in six months, one year, bam, you have it. Believing that's all you need. No, it doesn't work like that. And I made an example of the post podcast because it's the closest one, of course, you know, in my case, but I talk about any of your dream guys, you know. Unfortunately, that's not how it works, okay? To achieve your dream, you need to follow instructions, okay? But these instructions don't exist yet, so you need to create them. The instructions you develop, your recipe for success are often based on trial and error, of course. So you must be patient and humble, avoiding arrogance. In this way, you learn more so you can refine the instructions that will lead you to success, okay? Another point to consider is the importance of study. When we pursue financial freedom, we often we often rely on trial and error, you know, rather than uh careful research. As I mentioned in a previous, I think maybe a few episodes ago, learning through trial and error is fundamental for me. In my experience, taking the long road through these trials and errors way, you know, can uh lastly lead to shortcuts for you guys. However, I've also realized that for certain topics I need to invest more time in studying. So while trial and error are essential for progress and offer valuable lessons, you know, that you may not find in books, there is also a risk of missing out on uh knowledge that others have documented, you know, and you did not encounter that, or

Study With Trial And Error

SPEAKER_00

you never will. So understanding what someone else has already learned could be the key sometimes to unlocking new opportunities in your own journey. And lastly, it is important to focus like a sniper, you know. The wider your attention, the slower your progress tends to be. When you are focused on your goals, guys, you can achieve them faster, more effectively. But in the past, when I felt like things weren't moving quickly enough, I'd often shift my focus to something else, to be honest with you. And that's no good, you know. However, in the last three years, I've been more careful with this approach. Yes, of course, I made my experiment, you know, before I mention uh the advertisements and soup stack, but I always try to go back, you know, to zoom in better in a way to grow faster. As I said, I still occasionally widen my perspective, but I always aim to stay close to what I'm working on. Okay, this is very important. For example,

Focus Like A Sniper

SPEAKER_00

talking about Substack, right? I found value in platforms like Soupstack. So I decided to share my script as a series of articles to grow faster and index better on Google. I also engage with motivational notes across various subreddits on Reddit dedicated to self-improvement. And by expanding my view while maintaining focus on my core goals, I also found guys that it can indeed accelerate my progress. However, if you extend your focus too far, you know, and stray from your core business, from your core dream, it can lead to disaster. Disaster. No joking. Okay. This happens because you lose your focus, which diminishes your passion for the work you are doing. It's not that you're you no longer love it, you know. Maybe sometimes you also wonder, like, oh my god, I thought that was my I thought that was my vocation, but evidently it's not. No. Well, sometimes yes, of course, but not always. Rather, passions are like flowers, guys. If you don't nurture them, they start to shrink and fade, you know, just as you forget about them over time. So you need balance, you need something in the between, you know. It's important to wide your view, but it's also important to not wide this view so much, you know. And that's it. I think uh we finished for now. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Today I want to offer you a different perspective on the journey to success. Yes, discipline, consistency, persistence, resilience, uh blah blah blah. Okay, very enough are important, all right. We know that. However, the truth is that if you ignore fundamental principles such as studying, focusing, you know, being ample, trial error, practicing patience, okay, and redirecting your energy toward what really matters rather than uh feeding your ego, then all the tips you find online, or even those I share here in my podcast, will be useless for you, okay? You need to understand that. So, this episode served as a reminder for me as well, and also for you that you just need to follow, you know, really some fundamental principle to achieve success.

The Principles That Actually Matter

SPEAKER_00

It may take longer than you expect, or perhaps less. It may take longer than I expect, or perhaps less, you know. But if we remain focused and patient, I'm sure we can create the right recipe for our success. And of course, I wish the same for uh for all of us, all of you. It doesn't matter which tree or which dream you are aiming for. Okay. Now, before we wrap up, what do we talk about today? We talk about the concept of the journey to success and how I initially brainstormed names for this podcast, you know, including the Fabio Podcast and From Failure to Success. And lastly, I chose journey to success because I I believe that failure or missteps are still crucial steps on the path to achieving our goals, but I don't know, people were not enthusiastic when they saw you know the when they used to see the word failure in my title. I could feel it. Even if for me fail, failing, failure has such a positive uh I know it sounds weird, but for me, uh for me, failure is equal to uh lessons, you know, or something that I figure out because of it, because of I fail, because I made a misstep. But I understand that it's not something for everyone. I understand that people don't have these um this concept, you know, this way to think about failure. So then I changed to journey to success. I actually love it. In our conversation, I share my personal experiences over the past five years, including my struggles with my first podcast attempt, which was quiet but. And I I I highlighted common challenges many many face while pursuing their dreams. We discussed the relationship between ego and patience, the desire for quick accomplishments that can lead to burnout, you know, when we prioritize personal glory over building a meaningful community. And I emphasized the importance of being patient and understanding that success cannot be rushed, okay? Additionally, I highlighted the significance of humility, learning from others, recognizing what we don't know in a way to cultivate, grow, and reduce arrogance. Pursuing dreams requires, of course, creating our own unique path through trial and error, but that doesn't mean avoiding a commitment to continual learning, guys, all right. In fact, we touched on this point too. While trial and error are important, they should be complemented by researching documented experiences of others to unlock new opportunities. And lastly, We explore the importance of focus and narrowing our attention helps us progress more efficiently toward our goal, guys. And I share my experience on platforms like like Soupstack, where maintaining focus on core goals has proven beneficial in my journey, right? Such as writing articles on personal growth connected to my podcast. In conclusion, while discipline, consistency, persistence, resilience, whatever are crucial, it is essential not to ignore fundamental principles like studying, focusing, humility, patience, and redirecting our energy toward what really matters. Ignoring these principles, guys, can make uh can make any advice mine to my advice is hard, ineffective, okay? So it is very important to uh not ignore these principles. This episode has reinforced the idea that my journey may take time, but I am dedicated to crafting the right recipe for success, and I hope the same for all of you. Now, I would love to hear from you. What does your journey to success look like, guys? What challenges have you faced that shaped your path? Share your experience and insight with me. I would love to connect and learn from you. And if you enjoyed today's episode, remember to subscribe, of course, so you never miss an update. And also please take a moment to share this episode with friends who might need encouragement, you know, on their own journey. Thank you. Thank you so much for joining me on the journey to success. Together, let's choose focus and patience every step on the path you are uh aiming for. I'll see you in the next episode. Cheers.
