Would you like to hear something fascinating? Ancient teachings, guys, such as, you know, buddhism and Taoism, emphasize the importance of living in the present moment and include principles that were essential for building a business at the time. So in the ancient world, fewer than 10% of the population could read and write. So only 10%. Okay, and the education was mainly accessible to the wealthy, to the wealthy people. However, the people without formal education were often careful in looking for valuable information, learning from people with a higher mindset. So, basically, people were more careful about gaining knowledge because information was not as easily available as it is today. Okay, today we have resources like audible, where, for just nine euros a month, you can access any book you want. There's Kindle you know, kindle right when, for the price of a coffee, you can purchase your favorite educational book. Also, google Google itself offers millions of free articles about how to achieve your goals, and podcasts, youtube, I mean. Despite all these options, many of us find ourselves just crawling through social media instead. The reality, guys, is that we're spoiled so spoiled that we have become experts at inventing justifications. So many people are hesitant to take even the simplest steps, like opening a stand to sell a lemonade, and instead just live a sad, unfulfilled life, accepting as there is their fate. You know, hey guys, my name is fabio from Journey to Success and welcome. Even in the show Orange is the New Black, we see characters like the protagonist starting a business like selling sweaty underwear from the prison, and today we cannot even sell a lemonade from a stand. You know, today we're going to explore why people in the ancient world were more intentional about pursuing their dreams and discuss the best teachings we can learn from them. But, as always, before we go forward, please subscribe. So I know this is the right direction to drive you, to lead you, to guide you towards your journey to success. And let's get started. All right, so there are various ancient teachings I would like to discuss today. We have Socrates, and, more properly, zeno with his stoicism, as well as Shiva's teachings on the seven secrets of success.
Speaker 1:However, I don't want to overwhelm you with too much information today, so my focus will be on the 6 key principles from the ancient philosophy of Taoism. Why? Why should we start with Taoism? Because the modern world often lacks balance. Without balance in your life, creating anything from scratch becomes just impossible. It's like trying to make a large ikea closet in a mess room. It just doesn't work okay.
Speaker 1:So taoism, or taoism, is an ancient chinese philosophy that encourages people to live a balanced life. It underlines finding peace, simplicity and modesty, providing guidance on how to live with purpose. That's what we're going to discuss today finding your purpose in life, but starting with balance. I want to begin with this topic because we live in a modern era where balance is elusive. We struggle to find peace and often try to make ourselves stand out when, in fact, we're just small pieces in this vast universe. In my humble opinion, the best we can do is to pursue our purpose in life while remaining humble in everything we do. You know, modern society often faces stress and disconnection, while Taoists emphasize finding balance and inspiring many people on their life journeys.
Speaker 1:In this discussion, we're going to explore six key Taoist concepts and their relevance. Today, we're going to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of Taoism and we're going to discover how ancient wisdom can help us live with greater peace and simplicity. So these teachings provide us with tools to lead calmer, more meaningful lives. So let's begin. Let's begin for real. So the the first key concept is vouvet. Vouvet, which can be translated as non-action or effortless action. This idea suggests that the most effective way to achieve your goals is by going with the flow and acting naturally, without forcing or resisting.
Speaker 1:For example, I'm going to make a personal example. If I write scripts for my podcast and produce four episodes a month for two years without seeing much improvement in my numbers, I just remind myself not to stress too much. I trust the process and recognize that I'm improving along the way. So every article, script and episode I create serves a larger goal that I may not yet see, but is there waiting for me, okay? Meanwhile, I continue to put in more than 100% effort to reach my goals by exploring new strategies for improving my scripts and, of course, finding better ways to promote my podcast. I'm also learning the importance of taking breaks, so I understand when it's time to pause and recharge completely, because life, see, has taught me that the way I used to work wasn't sustainable and even if I still experience stress at times, I'm not aware that resting is an essential part of the process.
Speaker 1:Second, in and young, of course you know. In and young, I mean how many times we hear about in and young. In and young represent the dual nature of existence, with concepts, like you know, male and male and female, positive and negative, moon and sun, and so on. So to achieve balance in your life, it's important to rest with the same intensity that you work. It's interesting if I think about. Yesterday, my fiancé showed me a visual diagram that showed exactly this concept. So imagine two parallel horizontal lines when the upper line rises, the lower line descends to match its level. So the upper line represents work, while the lower line descends to match its level. So the upper line represents work, while the lower line represents rest.
Speaker 1:So to avoid feeling overwhelmed, in a few words, I recommend using the Pomodoro technique to avoid a lot of unfortunate issues with your well-being. For example, in my case, I found that this method has helped reduce my hemicrania, a condition I've suffered from since my childhood, and the technique that is going to help you a lot consists of 25 minutes of work followed by 5 minutes rest, and this cycle repeats 3 times, and this cycle repeats three times, and for the fourth cycle it's 25 minutes of work followed by a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. In my experience, taking even longer breaks can be beneficial, and when I have other commitments, my long break sometimes serves as a natural endpoint for my work sometimes serves as a natural endpoint for my work. So if I only work for 100 minutes we're talking about 1 hour and 40 minutes in a day I still consider that satisfactory. I know that it may not seem like much, but you know, especially when I say it this way but I can maintain such focus that I'm able to complete the full podcast script, sometimes in one hour and 40 minutes. Keep in mind that I'm Italian and my English is not my first language. Ok, so just take a break. You need to rest. So don't make my same mistake I did in the past.
Speaker 1:Number three inner alchemy. Inner alchemy involves stimulating the inner self through practices such as meditation, breath work and visualization. Meditation is essential for starting the day with positive energy from the universe and ending it by releasing any negative energy accumulating in the day. So in the morning you get the energy the positive one and in the evening you release it. You know you release the negative one. Breathwork is important for regulating your heartbeat, helping to lower unnecessary tension that can generate anxiety and finally, at the end, we have the visualization. Visualization is crucial, you know. It allows you to clearly envision your purpose and ensures that you can redirect all your energies toward it.
Speaker 1:Number four we have the tao te ching. The tao te ching encouraged us to embrace simplicity and harmony in our lives. What does that mean? It means that, especially in our modern world right, we often find ourselves focusing on unnecessary distractions like social media, streamings, gaming and so on. I mean, while there is nothing wrong with enjoying these activities I mean I also enjoy gaming and occasionally browsing social media for interesting reels we tend to pay too much attention to this unnatural environment, so this focus can distract us from what truly matters. So it is essential to prioritize living in harmony with nature, embracing simplicity and cultivating inner peace.
Speaker 1:Number five five elements theory. So in Taoism, the five elements theory explains the workings of nature and how everything in the universe is interconnected. Guys. So the five elements are wood, earth, metal and water, and each one represents different qualities and characteristics. So this theory serves as a reminder to maintain balance and harmony in all areas of our lives. For example, if we spend too much time focused on work linked with fire, we might neglect important areas such as relationships linked with water or personal growth linked with food. So as soon as you understand how these elements interact, we can create a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Speaker 1:Okay, number six Taoism and environmentalism. These are closely linked concepts that can help you achieve your dreams and goals. So, to be successful, it is essential to be present and connected with your natural environment. Example If you wish to build a community on Instagram it's just an example yeah, it's important to focus on generally cultivating that community. Often people resort to growth hacking, buying followers or simply becoming stressed because they feel their content is not good enough. So this lack of peace and trust in the process distracts from the most natural way to build a community. Another different example if you have had a tough day at work and find yourself feeling stressed, if you have had a tough day at work and find yourself feeling stressed, it is easy to come home and drink, surrendering in unhealthy food or just watching TV. Instead, consider going outside, spending time in nature, reflecting on your day, you know. So this approach aligns with the principles of environmentalism and can help you in achieving your goals.
Speaker 1:Now let's reassume a little bit what we said First. We have VUVEI, so VUVEI. What is VUVEI? Vuvei is the idea that there is the concept, that there is an effortless action. Let's say in this way. So it means achieving your goals by going with the flow and not forcing things. So you still put in the work, but without unnecessary stress. So you have just to trust the process, guys. Sorry, my tongue was between. First, we have VUVEI. What is VUVEI? Vuvei means achieving your goals by going with the flow and not forcing things. Goals by going with the flow and not forcing things. So VUVEI they call it also idea of effortless action. So, basically, you still put in the work, so you put in the work, you work as hard as you wish, but without unnecessary stress. So trust the process, stay consistent and let things evolve naturally.
Speaker 1:Second, we talked about the yin and yang, finding balance in life. Just like there is light and dark, work and rest need to coexist. So if you push hard, you need to rest just as hard. So the balance keeps you healthy, focused and prevents burnout. Number three, third inner alchemy. So taking care of your inner self. So through meditation, breath work and visualization, you can maintain mental clarity, reduce anxiety and focus your energy on your purpose. All right.
Speaker 1:Number four the Tao Te Ching. So teach us to embrace simplicity and harmony. In today's busy world, guys, we get distracted by unnecessary things like social media and streaming, we talked already. By simplifying our lives and focusing on what truly matters, we find more peace and purpose. Number five, fifth, the five elements theory so wood, fire, earth, metal and water reminds us that everything in life is connected. If one area of life, like work, takes over, for example, it can throw everything else out of balance. So understanding this helps create a more fulfilling and well-rounded life. Lastly, we have Taoism and environmentalism. So to achieve your goals, you need to stay connected to nature and the world around you. So, instead of stressing over things like social media, growth or a tough day at work, step outside, reflect and find peace in the natural world. All right, the world is so beautiful, guys. So this connection keeps you grounded and focused on your journey. And that's it and this, guys. So this is the essence of ancient wisdom and how it can guide you in today's world.
Speaker 1:Now I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you ever applied ancient wisdom in your life? Share your experience.
