Speaker 1:

Did you know that the average person is interrupted every eight minutes, leading to over 50 distractions per day? I mean, it's no wonder many of us struggle to stay focused, especially during tough times. Hi guys, my name is Fabio from Journey to Success, and welcome. Today we are going to learn the critical skill of maintaining focus during challenging times. Whether you are facing personal challenges or professional pressures, staying focused is key to both your personal growth and career success. So we're going to look forward and we're going to dig deeper and deeper. So the ability to concentrate despite adversity can help you navigate obstacles more efficiently, enhance your productivity and, of course, improve your mental well-being. That's what we are looking at. The end of the story, right, we just want to be healthy. But, of course, before to go forward, please subscribe. So I know this is the right direction to take to drive you, to guide you, to lead you towards your journey to success. And let's start right. So maintaining focus isn't easy we know that, especially when life's challenge seems so overwhelming, and here are some common issues that can impact our concentration. So we have four points that are absolutely impactful when we talk about lack of focus and concentration in general. So the first one. The first point is the stress, of course. So high levels of stress can trigger your thoughts, right, pretty normal. So making difficult to concentrate on tasks. Stress activates the fight or flight response, which is great for immediate survival but terrible for when we are talking about being focused. So this is the first one stressed, we thought about it, we knew about it, we have it confirmed now. Second one overwhelming tasks. So when faced with a massive workload, it's easy to feel paralyzed. You know what I mean. So the volume of tasks can make the hard to decide where to start, leading to procrastination and a fragmented focus. So that's very important, because when we have these overwhelming tasks to do, then people go easily, you know, to a burnout situation.

Speaker 1:

Number three external distractions. So from constant phone notification to noise environments, external distractions can severely interfere with your ability to concentrate, to be focused. Even minor interruptions can break your focus and disrupt your workflow totally. So this was number three. And the number four is internal distractions. So sometimes our own thoughts can be the biggest distraction and sometimes we cannot control them. Other times we can control them, but the truth is that it's very hard when we have a problem especially, it's very hard to control these internal distractions. So worrying about future events or meditating on past issues can take your mind off the task at hand. So these are the four points.

Speaker 1:

So we have stress, overwhelming tasks, external distractions and internal distractions, something that I would like to add. Also, external distractions, it's something that we can control. You know you can control to put off the notifications of your phone. Internal distractions is a little bit hard to control, but it's still possible. It's still possible to manage our emotions, you know, in a way to be more focused, and if we don't manage enough, it means that the problem is too much big to handle. But enough In the case. I just suggest to rest and do whatever you were doing the next day.

Speaker 1:

Now let's explore some practical strategies to help you maintain focus even during tough times. First point setting clear goals. So define what you need to achieve each day. Break your goals into smaller we always talk about it, so smaller, manageable tasks, of course. So this helps reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed and give you a clear roadmap to follow.

Speaker 1:

Number two creating a helping environment. So your environment plays a crucial role in your ability to focus. So create a dedicated workspace that's free from distractions not like me right now, because if you look at my desk, listen, you're gonna get crazy full of distractions. That's not good, okay. So ensure it's well organized and has all the tools you need at end. Number three time management techniques. So use techniques like pomodoro technique, you know, like working 25 minutes intervals with five minutes break, blah, blah. So the Pomodoro technique is very important, it's very good. We talked about it in one of my previous episodes. Or also the time blocking, so dedicating specific blocks of time to different tasks. Also, this method can help you a lot. In this way, you can structure your day in a better way. So these methods can help you maintain consistent focus and especially, they can prevent burnout.

Speaker 1:

Number four we have mindfulness practices. So incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine. It has not to be something big. It's also nice to you know to do some mindfulness just five minutes per day to breathe in and breathe out a little bit before to start the day. Simple practices like deep breathing exercises, you know, or a few minutes of meditation, if you like. Meditation can also help calm your mind and improve your concentration. So very, very important to do some meditation if you like it. But I tell you guys, is very helpful, you know, just taking five, ten minutes of your time to breathe in and breathe out a little bit, you know, very, very important before to start your journey, before to start your day.

Speaker 1:

Number five limiting distractions. So that's the last one. So identify your main sources of distraction and take steps to minimize them. So this could mean setting your phone to not disturb mode using noise, canceling headphones, you know, or scheduling specific times to check emails and message, et cetera, et cetera, something that I'm doing right now. I deleted my instagram and tiktok. I just removed from my phone, not because I am addicted of the scrolling that's not me at all but I was working on my podcast, sharing my episodes in a short form, also on Instagram and TikTok. But this kind of way to you know, to share my content prevents me to be focused, to be really focused on what I like to do. That I mean only doing the podcast, you know, being with you guys, but just with my voice. The podcast, you know, being with you guys, but just with my voice.

Speaker 1:

Now I would like to make an example here, something very, very beautiful. It's a powerful example. So, during the Great Depression, a young entrepreneur so the name of this guy was Thomas Watson. Senior faced immense adversity while building IBM. You know the IBM right. So, despite the economic disruption, he maintained a relentless focus on innovation and long-term goals. So Watson implemented strict time management and goal-setting strategies, which helped him stay on track. So his way to stay so focused not only guided IBM through the crisis, but that also laid the foundation for its future success.

Speaker 1:

This story, guys, illustrates that with the right strategies, it's possible to maintain focus and achieve remarkable success, even in the face of severe challenges. Ok, to summarize staying focused during tough time is essential for overcoming challenges and achieving success. Overcoming challenges and achieving success. So by setting clear goals, creating a healthy environment, practicing time management, incorporating mindfulness and limiting distractions, you can enhance your focus on productivity Totally.
